Hello, welcome to shaybrennan.ie, many of you will have met me on the campaign trail during the recent bye election and will already know my priorities and policies for Ireland and for Dublin South. For those of you who haven’t, my message is simple, Dublin South is my priority – for jobs – for education – for local clinics – and most importantly, for you the constituent.

If given the honour to serve as your TD, I promise you that I will serve the best interests of this community and this country.

Serve My Country

I will give a real priority to the following issues:

•Action for recovery.  I will support policies to control the public finance deficit and ensure investment in areas capable of delivering a sustainable recovery – especially through support for SMEs, retraining and R&D.

•Help those in need.  At a time of great economic pressures everyone feels the impact, but those most in need, especially the young, the elderly and the unemployed, must still receive a clear priority.

•Work with the EU.  I will support a greater engagement with the EU in the Oireachtas and the community because I believe that only through the EU, can we achieve economic and social progress.

Serve My Community

I will:

•Push for business and job supports.  Dublin South’s businesses and its people need support in protecting and creating jobs, especially through training and investment schemes.  This will be at the top of my agenda if elected.

•Stay in touch with you.  Regular contact with constituents through clinics, local visits and an always-available office. This will be an integral part of my work as your public representative.

•Support Local Schools and Clubs.  Dublin South has a great range of community and sports facilities, including wonderful schools and sports clubs. I will actively work on their behalf to increase funding for new and greater facilities.

Over the years I have played a supporting role, but I am now asking for the chance to make a bigger contribution to helping our country come through these hard times and to work on behalf of my community.

Unfortunately, this election did not go our way. We’re still in the game, just not on the pitch!

Thank You - to the 9,250 constituents of Dublin South who gave me their number 1 vote on 5th June, and to all those who gave me a preference vote also.

Thank You - to friends, family and all the team that so generously gave their time and energy to assist in the bye election campaign, your efforts and enthusiasm were second to none - very proud of you guys, well done.
